Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) successfully test fired the air-to-surface RudraM-II missile from Sukhoi-30 Mk-I platform of Indian Air Force (IAF) off the coast of Odisha on May 29, 2024 at around 11.30 am. This crucial test met all the test objectives with accuracy of data related to propulsion system and control and navigation being met. Each activity during this missile test was validated through range tracking equipment such as electro-optical systems, radars and telemetry stations deployed by Integrated Test Range, Chandipur at various locations including on-board ship.
Rudra M-II is an indigenously developed solid fuel powered air-launched missile system capable of air-to-surface strike to destroy a wide range of enemy weapons. This missile system incorporates several cutting edge indigenous technologies developed by various laboratories of Defence Research and Development Organisation.
Defence Minister Shri Rajnath Singh has congratulated the Defence Research and Development Organisation, Indian Air Force and Defence Industry on the successful test of RudraM-II. He said that the successful test has strengthened the role of RudraM-II system as a force multiplier for the armed forces. Secretary, Department of Defence R&D and Chairman, Defence Research and Development Organisation, Dr Sameer V Kamat, complimented the DRDO team for their tireless efforts and contribution in successfully conducting the test.
